After five hours in the ER with two pelvic x-rays, a chest x-ray and CT scan, I can say with great assurance that it is not go time for yours truly. With as many broken bones as I have between my back and my ribs, go time is a long time from now. Lest there be any wild rumors about what I was doing at the time this all came about, let me assure, dear listener: it was the dog's fault! Indeed, I'm pretty sure he, the Notorious G.I.B., pushed me. But I lack good security cam footage so we'll never know for sure. As I lay here recovering all I've got to console me is some wild, strange, soothing, swinging, engaging music. And I'm sharing it with you. 2 Parts Hendrick's Gin
1 Part Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 Part Simple Syrup
8 torn and quartered basil leaves
Add basil to base of cocktail shaker and muddle gently. Add remaining ingredients and shake hard over ice. Strain over an ice-filled rock glass. (If you've recently been thrown down stairs by your animal companion you are encouraged to follow that first sip with a couple of percocet.)
